An Organized House is a Happy Life

Did you know, an organized house is a happy life! Do you feel better in a clean and uncluttered space? Sure you do! When everything in our home has its own place life just feels better.

Stop and think about how much stress in your life is actually created by clutter or poor organizational habits. Disorganized spaces can actually put stress on both the body and mind. Our bodies hurt when we trip over a misplaced shoe or step on a Lego (ouch!). Our minds hurt when we can’t find what we are looking for or we try to concentrate on something but the chaos around us is too distracting. Taking a little time to organize and declutter can lift a great weight.

If you feel like it’s time for an organization overhaul, my advice is to declutter first.

Clear The Clutter

Take a good look around and find things that you really don’t need. Try doing this room by room. Try not to touch the items too much. Holding items makes us remember why we were hanging onto them in the first place. If you’re not using it right now however, there is no need to keep it. Try to work fast and trust your first instinct. If you think about it for too long you will find a “reason” why you need to hang onto it.

Organizing for Happiness

Our challenge for today:

Choose one area that we want to clean and organize and get started on it TODAY. You may not have time to do a full-fledged purge today but you can at least start to envision what your clean and organized space should look like. You can also set a goal to get rid of 5 things from this particular space right now.

Then, choose five more areas you want to clean and organize this month. Here are some ideas:

  • Kitchen cabinets
  • Pantry
  • Laundry Room
  • Kids Toys
  • Paperwork
  • Refrigerator
  • Desk Drawers
  • Makeup Storage
  • Garage
  • Basement

Essentially having a clean and organized home allows my brain to relax and concentrate on things that are important, instead of feeling scrambled because I’m frantically searching for something I can’t find. Or constantly feeling like I need to clean the area around me instead of doing my office work. Go declutter, get organized and do what works for you!

Sweeten Up Your Cleaning Routine

Go ahead and have fun with it

Learn how to sweeten up your cleaning routine. I have to be honest with you, I don’t really enjoy cleaning. However I remember being a kid at home all summer and my mother would give me $20 allowance a week for cleaning the house. I would do a half ass job of wiping the dinning table, never touched the bathrooms and threw all clutter into a bigger pile. I’d jam out to Gloria Estefan, dancing around the house, singing and having FUN! My girl friends always came over and hung out at our house. One day while mopping the kitchen floor and using way too much soap we found it made a great slip and slide. So almost every week during the summer while my parents were at work my friends and I would run and slide across the kitchen floor. Now, that was my idea of fun!

Everytime I think about cleaning and how I’m in this business I think back about simpiler time and how It all started. So my advice to you Is to have fun while you’re cleaning so you can enjoy it! Do you, and do what makes you happy! It may not be cleaning toilets, cause trust me that’s not my idea of fun. However the key In life is to enjoy it and find the positive In every thing you do!

Clean As You Go

I have learned, to clean as you go!. Because some cleaning jobs can be scary at first sight!! It could look like a cluttered home from the show Hoarders. Or you’ll see dust piled high throughout the home. Soap scum in the tub that’s all different colors with dirt embeded all around. Or maybe rat discardings and dead bugs throughout from an empty abandoned home.

I can say that I have seen some horrible jobs and have remained to clean them all without turning away. Although now looking back, I should of walked away numerous times. The worst part is when the cleaning seems as If It will never end! Where you’re cleaning in circles and feel as If you’re getting no where. The best advice I have Is to clean as you go, starting at one end of the home and finishing each area before moving on. Making your way to the door where you’ll finally exit. By sectioning off the home in smaller areas to focus on helps you tackle the not so easy job.
